NOTE: Meetings will be held in Dupuis rm 427 - for those of you unfamiliar with Dupuis Hall there is a small passageway door leading up the stair to the 4th floor from the north side of the landing on the 3rd floor (look hard)

 

 

Project Milestones

1. Course Kickoff & TEAM formation (Sept)

Initial Lectures / seminars in subjects of interest - see fall meeting schedule above

Project Bidding & Group formation (mid to late Sept - depending on clients - see schedule below)

Initial Group Meeting for Ground rules and Roles: The material developed here will guide your teamwork throughout the semester, and must be included in your first progress report.

Meet Advisor

2. Project Background Research, Client Meeting, Development of Project Plan & Statement of Work (Oct/Nov)

Meet Client (1st week of Oct)

Before Oct 7th or 1st Client meeting - Hand in:

  • two sets of meeting minutes from 1st Advisor meeting, and first Client meeting (see TEAM manual). Return marked meeting minutes to client.
  • Waiver of Liability signed by the client.
  • Confidentiality Agreement signed by you and the client, OR a client signed statement No CA Required Form.

Start process of dealing with project legal aspects (confidentiality, waiver of liability, etc)

Begin background research into problem to assist in developing project plan

Develop Project Plan and Statement of Work in consultation with client

3. Project Plan & Draft Statement of Work issued for internal review (Due: Oct 31st, 6:30 pm)

Issue a draft of the Statement of Work and Project Plan documents to instructors, advisor.

Review Project Justification Cost/Benefit analysis with Dale Dilamarter - Teams to arrange meetings with Dale personally (dale.dilamarter@chee.queensu.ca).

 

Nov 1st thru 25th - Review of SOW and PP with instructors and advisors. Groups are responsible to arrange meetings.

4.Statement of Work Issued to Client for signature & First Progress Report Due (Due: Dec 9th or before)

Issue Statement of Work to Client for their review and signature.

Final Signed (by you) Statement of Work to be issued for client signature and to be returned to you by first week in January (or earlier)

5.Detailed Project Work - Winter Term - (Jan thru April)

- Week 1 - Project Description and Status Presentation to Course Instructors

On-going meetings (see winter schedule below) with instructors, advisors, and clients and Progress Reports

Weekly Status Memo's due every Monday morning at 8:30 from January Term onwards until final report is issued. Note, on dates that Project Plan updates are due, the weekly status memo is not required.

MS Project Tip for Printing- How to Print an Project schedule and make it readable:
1. Hide one or both of the date Start//Finish columns.

2. Make the Predecessors column appear.

3. Make the Duration column appear.

5. use the zoom tool to so you can see the entire schedule.

4. Go to the Print Menu, select "page setup" and change the Scaling to "fit to 1 page wide by 10 tall" change the 10 to any number longer than your schedule.

You should now have a schedule that prints and is readable by most people with reasonable eyesight.

6. Mid-term Oral Presentation with Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) Judge (March - date to be determined )

Each Presentation is 10 - 15 minutes, with up to 10 minutes for Questions and Answers afterward. The audience is your class mates and OCE judges- Selected project teams may be invited to the OCE (Ontario Centre's of Excellence)Connections competition.

Remember to clear the details with your client to avoid disclosing confidential information.

7. Final Reports and Presentations to Clients (Late Mar / April)

WINTER Term Meeting Schedule

 

Week of Jan 9th - Project Status Presentation - Outline Project Objectives to bring faculty up to speed.

Formal group meetings will be held with the course instructors in Dupuis rm 312. Every team should:

  • Please prepare an agenda (delivered by 5pm the day before to Dave Mody and Allison Turner and for those advised by Don Gerson, him) and ensure we have your weekly status memo emailed to us by 8:30am on Monday (preferably Sunday evening), or the night before the meeting.


    The meeting will end with Q&A and suggestions from the instructors.
