Course Objectives

This course is designed to reinforce thermodynamic concepts introduced in first year, and to extend those concepts to the use of fluids in practical applications. The way in which these concepts can be used to analyze and design chemical engineering processes with the aim of achieving improved performance is emphasized. The course concludes with a design project wherein the students, in teams, apply the concepts introduced in lectures and through tutorials to the optimization of a steam plant.
