The purpose of the course is to develop the professional communications skills required to succeed in your academic career and to practice successfully as a professional engineer. Students will do communications exercises both individually and in teams. The student workload will be approximately equivalent to half of a one-semester course, spread out over the academic year. There is a one-hour/wk lecture slot allocated to the course (Mon 8:30-9:20), as well as six sections (max 25 students per section) of two-hour/wk workshop sections; attendance at many of the workshops is mandatory. The lectures (seven or eight in total), workshops and assignments are spread out over the fall and the first six weeks of winter term.
