Engineering Chemistry Discipline Orientation Night - Class of 2015 On Wednesday, January 25, 2012 there will be an orientation night for Engineering Chemistry in Chernoff Auditorium beginning at 7:00pm.
First Year students interested in careers as Engineering Chemists are welcome to join us at our orientation evening. We will show you what Engineering Chemistry is about (including our three fields of specialization; Biosciences, Environmental, Materials), and what types of professional lives Engineering Chemists pursue. You will have an opportunity to tour selected sites where our fourth year students conduct their research thesis projects. This conference is the culmination of a significant effort over the last few years to integrate CDEN and C2E2 towards the common goal of excellence and innovation in engineering education.

GRADUATE STUDENT SEMINAR DAY The Department of Chemical Engineering is proud to announce the Graduate Student Seminar Day on April 22, 2010. In order to fulfill their program requirements, graduate students present a seminar (two for Doctoral candidates) to their peers and Professors on the nature of their research for credit in CHEE897. (Students enrolled in the Collaborative Biomedical Engineering Program present their work in a similar manner for credit in CBME 802.) Twenty two abstracts were submitted on a wide variety of topics from polymers to coronary artery disease. Many students who are presenting their seminar will soon graduate from their program. "Emulsion Polymerization Process Development"
Professor Jan Meuldijk obtained his masters degree in chemistry at the State University of Utrecht in 1975 (major physical chemistry, minor organic chemistry). His PhD work was in the field of inorganic and theoretical chemistry at the Free University of Amsterdam, graduation in 1979. After post doctoral fellowships in solid state physics and chemical engineering at the State University of Groningen he was appointed assistant professor in the field of Industrial Catalysis (Professor Van der Wiele) at the Eindhoven University of Technology in 1985. In 1988 he became associate professor in chemical reactor engineering. His work in the Process Development Group is now focused on process development of complex chemical products. In the department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry there is a close cooperation with the Polymer Chemistry Group and the Macromolecular and Organic Chemistry Group.

GreenCentre Canada, who recently received $13.6 million from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment in addition to $9.1 million from the Federal Government, is a national commercialization facility that develops, de-risks, and commercializes early-stage Green Chemistry discoveries.
