Professor Aris Docoslis among the winners of the recent Queen’s SARS CoV-2/COVID-19 funding competition

Professor Aris Docoslis received funding from the Office of Vice Principal-Research to develop a portable COVID-19 testing device. Prof. Docoslis and his multi-disciplinary research team (Dr. Prameet Sheth (School of Medicine, KGH) Dr. Felicia Iftene (School of Medicine, Providence Care), Post-doctoral Fellows, PhD students, other Queen's Researchers, and Spectra Plasmonics Inc.) were among the winners of the recent Queen’s SARS CoV-2/COVID-19 funding competition.  The project entitled: “Point-of-Care device for rapid SARS-CoV-2 detection from nasopharyngeal swabs” will include developing, validating, and implementing a portable diagnostic prototype (COVID-19 Scanner) for rapid, point-of-care detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) from nasopharyngeal swabs.
